False. The PCP might be an OB Care provider if she is involved in caring for the patients pregnancy. However, many patients see specialists for their OB care, and might not see their PCP at all during the entire pregnancy.

A patient is pre-admitted and plans to deliver at your hospital. She arrives and says shes having contractions, but after assessing her triage nurse decides its only false labor. You discharge the patient but create a new preadmission so she will be expected when she comes back in true labor.
A new patient arrives on the unit with uterine contractions. Describe the steps you should take to find out if this patient already has a record in the system.
From the L&D Manager, click arrival. Enter as much identifying information as you have about this patient (name, DOB, SSN, etc) Click Find patient. If you do not have a matching record, click New to create a new one.

Information from the fetal heart monitor does not automatically flow into Epic. Even with an interface, the information in the FMS is not stored in Epics database. Nurses must manually document any fetal info that should be part of the patients electronic medical record in Epic, in compliance with your organization policies.
