Q

What is Volatile and Non-Volatile Storage? and provide examples.

A
  • Volatile Storage is data that gets saved to RAM temporarily to be used, if a computer is powered off; the contents of data will be erased from Memory.
  • Non-Volatile Stoage is data that gets saved to permanent storage devices such as HDD and SSD.
  • HDD’s contain magnetic material that spin around quickly inside where a head reads and writes magnetic charges to the platter.
  • SSD’s use stored electric charges to store a bit in flash memory cells and contains less moving parts.
