- Has a large storage capacity.
- Is faster than optical disk (a recording technology).
- Has a persistent storage (retains data even if turned off).
- Can be easily replaced or upgraded.

- Relies heavily on moving parts that can be broken.
- Disk surface can be damaged easily.
- Constantly uses a lot of power.

An SSD means Solid State Drive.

- Much faster than a HDD.
- Doesn’t consume much power.
- More durable than HDD’s
- Makes no noise whilst operating.
- Smaller than a HDD.

- Very limited storage capacity.

- Reads and writes faster than traditional HDD’s.
- Has been manufactured to be durable.
- Much cheaper than the traditional HDD.
- Doesn’t use much power, and has security features.

- Can be lost easily due to its size.
- Flash drive files can be corrupted.
- Does not have a write protection system (most of the time).
