A

Category: Meeting point of the Stomach channel with the Yang Motility and Conception vessels

Location: With the eyes looking directly forwards, this point is located directly below the pupil between the eyeball and the infraorbital ridge.

Action: Benefits the eyes and stops lacrimation, eliminates wind and clears heat

Indication: All eye problems: redness, swelling and pain of the eye, tearing, night blindness, twitching of the eyelids; facial paralysis.

*ST-1 is one of the two most important local point for the eyes (the other being UB-1*

A

A

Location: Approximately 1 fingerbreadth anterior and superior to the angle of the jaw at the prominence of the masseter muscle.

Location: At the lower border of the zygomatic arch, in the depression anterior to the condyloid process of the mandible.

Action: Benefits the ears, jaw and teeth, activates the channel and alleviates pain

Indication: Deafness, tinnitus, ear pain, itching and purulent discharge from the ear, toothache, TMJ syndrome, facial paralysis, facial pain, motor impairment of the jaw.

A

Category: Meeting point of the Stomach and Gall Bladder channels with the Yang Linking vessel

Location: At the corner of the forehead, 4.5 cun lateral to Shéntíng DU-24 and 0.5 cun within the anterior hairline.

Action: Eliminates wind and alleviates pain, benefits the eyes

Indication: Headache, dizziness, blurring of vision, eye pain, tearing.
*An important point to treat headaches and dizziness.*

A

Category: Meeting point of the Stomach and Gall Bladder channels, Point of the Window of Heaven, Point of the Sea of Qi

Location: Level with the tip of and 1.5 cun lateral to the laryngeal prominence, in the depression between the anterior border of the sternocleidomastoid muscle and the lateral border of the thyroid cartilage.

Action: Regulates qi and blood and lowers rebellion, benefits the throat and neck, alleviates pain

Indication: Sore throat, asthma, goiter, dizziness, flushing of the face, hypertension, hypotension.

Indication: Sore throat, pain and rigidity of the neck, asthma, hiccup, goiter.

*JA: Phrenic nerve reflex; EAV: measures thymus functioning*

A

Category: Meeting point of ST, LI, SI, SJ & GB channels

Location: In the supraclavicular area, posterior to the superior border of the clavicle and at its midpoint, 4 cun lateral to the midline, on the mamillary line.

Action: Descends Lung qi and clears heat from the chest, activates the channel and alleviates pain

Indication: Cough, asthma, sore throat, pain in the supraclavicular fossa, pain and motor impairment of arm.

*Contraindicated for Pregnancy*

Indication: Abdominal pain/cramping, hernia, swelling and pain of the external genitalia, impotence, dysmenorrhea, irregular menstruation, “Running Piglet”.

Location: Below the knee, 3 cun inferior to Dúbí ST-35, one finger-breadth lateral to the anterior crest of the tibia.

Action: Harmonizes the Stomach, Fortifies the Spleen and resolves dampness, Supports the correct qi and fosters original qi, Tonifies qi and nourishes blood and yin, Clears fire and calms the spirit, Activates the channel and alleviates pain, Revives the yang and restores consciousness

Indication: Stomach: Epigastric pain, rebellious ST qi, ab distention/pain, poor appetite, difficult ingestion.

  • Spleen:* Borborygmus, flatulence, diarrhea, cold in the intestines, leg qi, edema, heaviness of the four limbs, retention of urine.
  • Qi & Blood Deficiency:* shortness of breath, inability to stand for long, dizziness, post-partum blood dizziness, dim vision, tinnitus, palpitations, prolapse.

ST channel: Breast disorders, pain of the knee, thigh and shin, wind-stroke, hemiplegia, muscle pain, chronic painful obstruction.

Category: Lower He-Sea point of the Large Intestine, Point of the Sea of Blood

Location: On the lower leg, 3 cun inferior to Zúsānlǐ ST-36, one finger-breadth lateral to the anterior crest of the tibia.

Action: Regulates the intestines and transforms stagnation, clears damp heat, alleviates diarrhea and dysentery, regulates the Spleen and Stomach, activates the channel and alleviates pain

  • *Indication:**
  • Intestinal disorders:* diarrhea, dysentery, constipation, abdominal pain and distension, borborygmus,
  • Qi deficiency:* shortness of breath, dyspnea
  • Leg problems:* paralysis d/t stroke, difficulty walking or standing, leg qi.

Location: On the lower leg, midway between the tibio-femoral joint line (level with the popliteal crease) and the prominence of the lateral malleolus, one finger-breadth lateral to the anterior crest of the tibia.

Action: Expels wind-damp and alleviates pain, benefits the shoulder

Indication: Frozen shoulder, pain or weakness of the lower limb.

Action: Moves Small Intestine qi, regulates the intestines, clears damp-heat, activates the channel and alleviates pain

Indication: Low ab pain, backache referring to the testes, mastitis, diarrhea, dysentery, numbness and paralysis of the lower limbs.

Category: Luo-Connecting point of the Stomach channel

Location: On the lower leg, midway between the tibiofemoral joint line (level with the popliteal crease) and the lateral malleolus, two finger-breadths lateral to the anterior crest of the tibia (i.e. one finger-breadth lateral to Tiáokǒu ST-38).

Action: Transforms phlegm and dampness, Benefits the chest, Clears phlegm from the Lung, stops cough, Clears phlegm from the Heart, calms the spirit, Activates the channel and alleviates pain

  • *Indication:**
  • Phlegm patterns:* chest oppression and pain, dizziness, wind-phlegm headache, plumstone qi, slackness and heaviness of the body, cough/wheezing with copious phlegm, mania-depression, ghost diseases, epilepsy, hypertension

ST channel problems: numbness, atrophy or pain of the lower limbs

A

Category: Jing-River Fire Pt., Tonofication Pt.

Location: On the ankle, level with the prominence of the lateral malleolus, in a depression between the tendons of extensor hallucis longus and extensor digitorum longus.

Action: Clears heat from the Stomach channel and fu, calms the spirit, activates the channel and alleviates pain.

Indication: Ankle joint pain, pain and paralysis of the lower extremities, epilepsy, headache, dizziness, ab distention, constipation.

Category: Yuan-Source point of the Stomach channel

Location: On the dorsum of the foot, in the depression formed by the junction of the second and third metatarsal bones and the cuneiform bones (second and third), 1.5 cun distal to Jiěxī ST-41, on the line drawn between Jiěxī ST-41 and Xiàngǔ ST-43, at the point where the pulsation of the dorsalis pedis artery may be palpated.

Action: Clears heat from the Stomach channel, harmonizes the Stomach fu, calms the spirit, activates the channel and alleviates pain

Indication: Toothache (upper), redness and swelling of the dorsum of the foot, facial paralysis, atrophy of the foot, mania.

Location: On the dorsum of the foot, between the second and third metatarsal bones, in a depression 1 cun proximal to Nèitíng ST-44.

Indication: Edema (body & face), ab pain, borborygmus, swelling and pain of the dorsum of the foot.

Location: On the dorsum of the foot, between the second and third toes, 0.5 cun proximal to the margin of the web.

Action: Clears heat from the Stomach channel, alleviates pain, harmonizes the intestines, clears damp-heat, calms the spirit

  • *Indication:**
  • ST Fire:* (channel) Toothache, pain in face, deviation of mouth, sore throat, nosebleed, swelling and pain of the dorsum of the foot, febrile diseases, hot-type skin problems.

(Fu) Epigastric pain, acid reflux, abdominal distension, diarrhea, dysentery, constipation

LIDUI ST-45

A

Category: Jing-Well Metal pt. of the Stomach channel, Dispersion Pt.

Location: On the dorsal aspect of the second toe, at the junction of lines drawn along the lateral border of the nail and the base of the nail, approximately 0.1 cun from the corner of the nail.

Action: Clears heat from the Stomach channel, calms the spirit and restores consciousness

Indication: Facial swelling, deviation of the mouth, nosebleed, toothache, sore throat, coldness in the leg and foot, febrile diseases, dream-disturbed sleep, mania.
