SHANGYANG L.I. 1
Category: Jing-Well Metal point.
Location: On the dorsal aspect of the index finger, at the junction of lines drawn along the radial border of the nail and the base of the nail, approximately 0.1 cun from the corner of the nail.
Action: Clears heat, reduces swelling and alleviates pain, revives consciousness
Indication: Toothache (lower jaw), sore throat, submandibular swelling, numbness of the fingers, febrile diseases w/no sweating, loss of consiousness, deafness, tinnitus.
ERJIAN L.I. 2
Category: Ying-Spring Water Pt.
Location: On the radial border of the index finger, in a depression just distal to the metacarpo-phalangeal joint.
Action: Expels wind, clears heat and reduces swelling, alleviates pain
Indication: Toothache, facial pain or paralysis, nosebleed, sore throat, febrile diseases, blurring of vision.
SANJIAN L.I. 3
Category: Shu-Streatm Wood Pt.
Location: On the radial side of the index finger, in the substantial depression proximal to the head of the second metacarpal bone.
Action: Expels wind, clears heat, benefits the throat and teeth, dispels fullness and treats diarrhea.
Indication: Toothache, acute eye pain, sore throat, nosebleed, stuffy nose, diarrhea, redness and swelling of fingers and dorsum of the hand.
HEGU L.I. 4
Category: Yuan-Source point, Command point of the face, Four Gates point,“Great Eliminator” (Worsley)
Location: On the dorsum of the hand, between the first and second metacarpal bones, at the midpoint of the second metacarpal bone and close to its radial border.
Action: Regulates the defensive qi and adjusts sweating, Expels wind and releases the exterior, Regulates the face, eyes, nose, mouth and ears, Activates the channel and alleviates pain, Induces labor, Restores the yang
Indication: Exterior wind-cold (or wind-heat) pattern, copious sweating, absence of sweating, Headache, hypertension,Redness, swelling and pain of the eyes, Nosebleed, nasal congestion, sneezing, Toothache in the lower jaw, mouth ulcers, Throat painful obstruction, mumps, loss of voice, Swelling of the face, facial paralysis, deafness, tinnitus, Amenorrhea, prolonged or delayed labor, Dysentery, constipation, childhood fright wind, wind rash, mania, Painful obstruction and atrophy disorder of the four limbs, hemiplegia.
YANGXI L.I. 5
Category: Jing-River Fire Pt.
Location: On the radial side of the wrist, in the centre of the hollow formed by the tendons of extensor pollicis longus and brevis (anatomical snuffbox).
Action: Clears heat and alleviates pain, clears yangming fire, calms the spirit, benefits the wrist joint
Indication: Headache, rhinitis, nosebleed, redness pain and swelling of the eye, toothache, sore throat, fright, mania-depression, pain of the wrist.
PIANLI L.I. 6
Category: Luo-Connecting point
Location: 3 cun proximal to Yángxī L.I.-5 on the line connecting Yángxī L.I.-5 with Qūchí L.I.-11.
Action: Expels wind and clears heat, opens and regulates the water passages
Indication: Redness of the eye, edema (esp facial edema), difficult urination, tinnitus, deafness, nosebleed, pain of hand and arm, sore throat, manic depression.
WENLIU L.I. 7
Category: Xi-cleft Pt.
Location: 5 cun proximal to Yángxī L.I.-5 on the line connecting Yángxī L.I.-5 with Qūchí L.I.-11.
Action: Clears heat and detoxifies poison; moderates acute conditions, regulates the intestines and Stomach, clears yangming fire and calms the spirit.
Indication: Headache, pain & swelling of the face, mouth & tooth pain, sore throat, borborygmus, abdominal pain, raving, seeing ghosts, pain of the shoulder and arm.
XIALIAN L.I. 8
Category: N/A
Location: On the radial side of the forearm, 4 cun distal to Qūchí L.I.-11, on the line connecting Qūchí L.I.-11 with Yángxī L.I.-5.
Action: Harmonizes the Small Intestine, expels wind and clears heat, clears yangming fire and calms the spirit
Indication: Abdominal pain, borborygmus, headache, manic raving, mad walking, pain in the elbow and arm, motor impairment of the upper limbs.

Location: On the radial side of the forearm, 3 cun distal to Qūchí L.I.-11, on the line connecting Qūchí L.I.-11 with Yángxī L.I.-5.
Action: Harmonizes the Large Intestine, activates the channel and alleviates pain
Indication: Aching of the shoulder and arm, motor impairment of the upper limbs, numbness of the hand and arm, borborygmus, Large Intestine qi stagnation, abdominal pain.
SHOUSANLI L.I. 10
Category: N/A / “Arm ST-36”
Location: On the radial side of the forearm, 2 cun distal to Qūchí L.I.-11, on the line connecting Qūchí L.I.-11 with Yángxī L.I.-5.
Action: Regulates qi and blood, activates the channel and alleviates pain, harmonizes the intestines and Stomach
Indication: Pain / immobility of the arm and shoulder, windstroke, hemiplegia, deviation of the mouth, abdominal pain, diarrhea, toothache, swelling of the cheek.
QUCHl L.I. 11
Category: He-Sea and Earth point , Sun Si-miao Ghost point
Location: At the elbow, midway between Chǐzé LU-5 and the lateral epicondyle of the humerus, at the lateral end of the transverse cubital crease.
Action: Clears heat, Cools the blood, eliminates wind, drains damp and alleviates itching, Regulates qi and blood, Activates the channel and alleviates pain
Indication: Any Excess Heat pattern, Fever, thirst, sore throat, toothache, redness and pain of the eyes, Agitation, mania, poor memory, Hypertension, dizziness., Various skin disorders (esp d/t Heat), itching of the skin. Distention and pain of the abdomen, vomiting and diarrhea, dysentery.
Bi & Wei patterns: Numbness of the upper arm, painful obstruction, hemiplegia, contraction, immobility and pain of the elbow and shoulder, weakness of the elbow, redness and swelling of the arm, atrophy disorder of the lower limbs, pain and swelling of the ankle.
ZHOULIAO L.I. 12

Location: When the elbow is flexed, this point is located in the depression 1 cun proximal to and 1 cun lateral to Qūchí L.I.-11.
Action: Activates the channel and alleviates pain, benefits the elbow joint
Indication: Pain, numbness and contracture of the the elbow and arm.

SHOUWULI L.I. 13

Location: On the lateral side of the upper arm, 3 cun proximal to Qūchí L.I.-11, on the line connecting Qūchí L.I.-11 with Jiānyú L.I.-15.
Action: Activates the channel and alleviates pain, alleviates coughing, regulates qi, drains damp and transforms phlegm
Indication: Contracture and pain of the elbow and arm, cough, scrofula.

BINAO L.I. 14
Category: Meeting point of the L.I. channel with the S.I. and Bladder channels
Location: On the lateral side of the upper arm, in the visible and tender depression formed between the distal insertion of the deltoid muscle and the brachialis muscle, approximately three fifths of the distance along the line drawn between Qūchí L.I.-11 and Jiānyú L.I.-15.
Action: Activates the channel and alleviates pain, regulates qi and dissipates phlegm nodules, benefits the eyes
Indication: Pain or weakness in the shoulder and arm, stiff neck, goiter, red swollen painful eyes.
JIANYU L.I. 15
Category: Meeting point of the L.I. channel with the Yang Motility vessel
Location: In the depression which lies anterior and inferior to the acromion, at the origin of the deltoid muscle.
Note: Jiānliáo SJ-14 is located in the depression which lies posterior and inferior to the acromion).
Action: Dispels wind-damp, alleviates pain, benefits the shoulder joint, eliminates wind, regulates qi and blood, dissipates phlegm nodules.
Indication: Pain in shoulder & arms, motor impairment of upper limbs, Wind-Heat skin rashes, goiter, hypertension.
