What are symptoms of gonorrhoea?
Yellow discharge. May have had recent throat infection
What is diagnosis of gonorrhoea?
NAAT and cultures of a swab.
What is treatment of gonorrhoea?
Ceftriaxone and azithroymicin
What are complications of gonorrhoea?
PID in girls, can get disseminated disease.
What are symptoms of chlamydia?
Can be none. Dysuria and discharge in girls and boys.
What is diagnosis of chlamydia?
NAAT and cultures of a swab/
What is treatment of chlamydia?
doxycycline OR azithromycin for 1 week
What is the disruptive strain of chlamydia?
Lymphgranuloma vereneum. Needs 3 weeks treatment. Common in HIV coinfection.
What are the symptoms of syphilis?
Primary (<90d after infection): chancre (painless ulcer)
Secondary (8-16 weeks): rash, disseminated. Fever.
Tertiary: neuro, cardio, and gummatous (granulomas)
What is diagnosis of syphilis?
Serology for T pallidum; PCR.
What is treatment of syphilis?
Benpen IV x2 on same day.
What are signs of genital warts?
Anogenital warts (HPV)
Painful ulcers with flu-like prodrome and discharge/dysuria (HSV 2)
What is diagnosis of genital warts?
PCR
What is treatment of warts?
If HSV - acyclovir, topical lidocaine.
If HPV - liquid nitrogen ablation, immunomodulators.
