- Often none

- Irregular, heavy menses
- Dyspareunia
- Dysuria
- Erythema, pruritus, drainage from eyes
- Rectal itching
What is the treatment for gonorrhea
Ceftriaxone (Rocephin) 500 mg IM - 1 dose
OR
1g >150 kg
What are the s/s of pelvic inflammatory disease
- Chronic pelvic pain
- Abdominal pain
- Ectopic pregnancy
- Infertility
- Irregular bleeding
- Fever (late)
- Nausea
- Chills
What is the treatment for PID
- Ceftriaxone 1g IV Q24h
- Doxycycline 100 mg PO/IV Q12h
- Metronidazole 500 mg PO/IV Q12h
What are the s/s of primary syphilis
- Single chancre on genitals/lips 5-90 days after infection
What is the treatment for primary syphilis
- Penicillin G 2.4 million units - single dose IM
- Long duration: 1 dose/week for 3 weeks

- TOC
- Safe sex
- Condom use
- Routine testing
- Treatment
What are the s/s of secondary syphilis
- Maculopapular rash palms/soles 6 weeks-6 months after chancre
- Fever
- Headache
- Malaise
- Lymphadenopathy
- Patchy alopecia
What are the s/s of latent syphilis
- Asymptomatic, serologically positive
- Early: infections, lesions reoccurring
- Late: not infectious, only to fetus of pregnant woman
What are the s/s of tertiary syphilis
- Untreated
- Neurologic
- Musculoskeletal
- Multi-organ system failure
- Death
What are the primary symptoms of HSV
- Blisters on/around genitals/rectum
- Vesicles, pustules, crusted ulcers
- Tingling, itching, burning, irritation, pain, discharge
- Flu-like symptoms: fever, chills
- Dysuria
- Lymphadenopathy
What are the s/s of recurrent HSV
- Local symptoms
- Prodromal tingling
- Unilateral lesion
- 5-7 day duration
- Triggered by stress, viruses, menses, trauma
What is the treatment for HSV
- Valacyclovir 1g PO Q12h for 7-10 days
- Acyclovir 400 mg PO 3x/day for 7-10 days
What is the education for HSV (5)
- Treat all sex partners
- Decrease stress, take B vitamins, balanced diet
- Clean lesions with water, keep dry/clean, good perineal hygiene
- Avoid contact with sores and wash hands after contact
- Avoid sexual contact from time symptoms first appear until healed
What are the s/s of HPV
- Asymptomatic mostly
- Genital warts
- Itching
- Vaginal discharge
What is the treatment for HPV
- None
- Cryotherapy/surgery as needed
What is the symptom treatment for HPV
- Gels, topicals (Lidocaine)
- Soaks
- Good hygiene
- Cotton underwear
- Healthy immune system

- 3 doses of Gardasil vaccine for people aged 9-26 years
What are the s/s of HBV
- Fever
- Fatigue
- Headache
- N/V
- Loss of appetite
- Malaise
- Abdominal pain
- Joint pain
- Late: dark urine, clay colored poop, jaundice
What is the treatment for acute HBV
- Rest
- Increase fluids
- Avoid alcohol/medications metabolized by the liver
What is the treatment for chronic HBV
- Adefovir dipivoxil
- Interferon alfa-2b
- Pegylated interferon alfa-2a
- Lamivudine
- Entecavir
What are the s/s of trichomonas
- Yellow/green/gray/white frothy vaginal discharge with foul odor
- Dyspareunia
