Stenopaic Slit Flashcards
Describe the stenopanic slit? When is it used during an exam?
Refractive procedure of last resort
Refracts one meridian at a time
Reduced pupil diameter in the meridian perpendicular to the slit (horizontal slit, reduces width of vertical ray bundle, corrects horizontal)
Describe the location of the rays and focal lines with a stenopaic slit.
In front of the eye: horizontal rays focus where VFL is
Behind the eye: Vertical rays focus where HFL is
COLC is between VFL and HFL
What will give the patient the best VA during stenopaic slit?
Smallest
What must be done before introducing lenses?
Add plus lenses to fog patient so COLC is not on the retina
How many times is BS done during stenopaic slit?
3 times, once in beginning, once with slit in preferred position, once 90 degrees away
