Steep Turns and Turning Around a point Flashcards
What are the set up process for turning around a point?
1) Practice area and a reference point
2) Va Speed
3) Altitude between 600-100 (make calculation based on elevation)
4) Clear the area
5) Trim for hands free flying
Explain the turning process for turning around a point.
Tailwind and initial turn to left (Steepest and don’t exceed 45 bank)-Highest ground speed
Turning to upwind: Gradually decrease the bank angle
In upwind: Slowest ground speed and shallowest bank angle
Turning into downwind: gradually increase bank angle

Explain the turning process for S-Turns
Tail Wind Cross the line: (Steepest and don’t exceed 45 bank)-Highest ground speed
Turning to upwind: Moderate bank angle
In upwind: Level the wings/crossing the line and shallowest bank angle
Turning into downwind: gradually increase bank angle
