What is Ejusdem Generis?
Where an Act lists specific words followed by a general word the general word must be interpreted in the light of the specific words.

Betting Act prohibits betting in a ‘‘house, office, room or other place’’. Betting was taking place outside but the court decided that the Act only referred to indoor places.

Naming one thing implies exclusion of all others.
