What is categoric data?
Individuals fall into categories (without numbers mostly!)
What is Binary data?
Data with only 2 categories
What is ordinal data?
Greater than 2 categories with natural order
What is nominal data?
Dater with greater than 2, but no natural ordering
What is numeric data?
Data measured on numeric scale
What is discrete data?
Where there is distinct # of values (e.g. frequency of an event)
What is continuous data?
Any value within a particular range
What is the risk difference?
Whether group has a higher/lower risk
What is risk ratio?
How many more/less times likely for particular outcome
What is odds ratio?
Where there is an increase/decrease in odds of outcome
How to work out risk difference?
Subtract smallest probability from largest
How to calculate RR?
Divide one probability by the other (focus on top)
Calculate OR?
Divide odds in one group by odds in another (e.g. 66 affected / 310 unaffected)
