What is a pilot project?
A mini study
What do critical appraisal tools do?
Generally: Provide a score, with the higher the score, the better the paper
When is a flow diagram presented?
If a paper is reporting a data collection
What does a flow diagram show?
Number of people approached, those who withdrew (with reason), and final number analysed
What is significant about a parametric test?
There are rules/assumptions to follow
Alternatives to be used if not met
What is a non-parametric test?
What is the con?
Alternative significant test, that don’t require any assumptions to be met to be used (Less powerful)
Why is critical appraisal as a doctor necessary?
To distinguish between true evidence research and ‘gossip’ for patients
