Statistics and probability Flashcards
1
Q
Frequency density
A
Frequency/Class width
2
Q
Position of the median
A
((n+1)/2)th
3
Q
How do you find the quartiles?
A
- Use the median to divide the data set into lower and upper halves. If there are an even number of values the lower half is the first half and the upper half the second. If there are an odd number of values those below the median are the lower half and those above it are the upper half, the median value is not included
- Use the median on either half for the quartile
4
Q
Outcome
A
A possible result of a trial
5
Q
Event
A
An outcome
6
Q
Expected frequency
A
The number of times you would expect a particular outcome to occur
7
Q
P(either A or B occuring)
A
P(A) + P(B) when A and B are mutually exclusive
