Q
Explain Sensitivity, Specificity, PPV and NPV
A
sensitivity is the ability of a test to correctly identify persons who have the disease, essentially ruling out those who do not have the disease
specificity is the ability of a test to correctly identify persons who do NOT have the disease, essentially ruling in those who have the disease
-indicating effectiveness of a test; dependence on prevalence
PPV is the likelihood that a person who has a positive test truly has the disease
NPV is the likelihood that a person who has a negative test truly does not have the disease
