What is torque?
The tendency of a force to produce rotation about an axis.
What symbol is given to torque?

When is a body in static equilibrium?
If the vectoral sum of both the forces and the torques acting on the body is zero.
What happens if a body is unsupported?
The force of gravity accelerates it and the body is not in equilibrium.
What determines whether the body is stable or not?
The position of the centre of mass.
What causes muscles to contract?
An electrical stimulus from the attached nerve endings.
What is the force of contraction determined by?
The number of individual fibres that are contracting within the muscle.
What is the formula for anticlockwise torque?
T = F x H
When is a person on the verge of toppling?
When the anticlockwise torque is equal to the restoring torque.
