Unauthenticated and Unassociated.
Device is usually sending probe requests.

Authenticated but Unassociated.
Authenticated with one or multiple APs but not associated and can therefore NOT communicate on the network.

Authenticated and Associated.
The device is a member of the network.
A device can only be associated with one AP at a time.
