What are the organs of the government?
The three organs of the government are the legislature which makes laws, executive which makes laws work and judiciary which interprets laws.
What are the two types of legislature ?
The legislature can be unicameral with one house the Vidhan Sabha or can be bicameral with two houses which are Vidhan parishad and Vidhan Sabha.
Explain the Vidhan Sabha or legislative council.
It has 500 members ( MLAs) who are elected. The state is divided into assembly constituencies for election. It elects a speaker and deputy speaker who presides over meetings, maintains order and takes votes on issues.
Explain the Vidhan parishad or legislative council.
The Vidhan Sabha decides if the Vidhan parishad is there or not. The total number of MLCs can only be 1/3 of the total number of MLAs. They elect a chairman and vice chairman who are the presiding officers. 1/3 of the MLCs retire every year. They are replaced. The maximum number of year is 6.
What are present in the state list ?
Agriculture, land revenue , law and order, public health and policeare a part of the state list.
What are present in the concurrent list ?
Marriage and divorce, education, electricity and factories come under the concurrent list.
What is a bill?
A bill is the proposal for a change in law or a new law. They should be signed by the governor to become a law.
