No EGT Rise On Start Actions
- Abort Start within 12 seconds no fuel flow
- Maintain air for 2 minutes to purge vapors
- Reattempt a start if you don’t suspect indicator malfunction
- Abort aircraft if it happens again
No EGT Rise On Start Considerations
No EGT rise with increasing RPM means snesor is malfunctioning
Excessive Fuel Flow On Start Actions (exceeds 360 prior to ignition)
- Retard throttles to off
- Maintain air for 2 minutes
- Reattempt another start if desired
- 2nd failed start abort the aircraft
Excessive Fuel Flow On Start Considerations
If ignition were to occur you could cause a fire due to excessive fuel in engine
Excessive EGT on Start Indications
During start, EGT rises above 845* C
Excessive EGT on Start Actions
- Retard throttles to off
- Maintain air for 2 minutes
- Try another start if you have not exceeded 925*
- If 925* exceeded abort the aircraft
Excessive EGT on Start Considerations
- Watch second start attempt for rapid EGT rise
2. Write up any aircraft that exceeds 925* with duration and degree of overtemp
Engine Fire During Start Indications
FIRE light illuminates during start, smoke/fumes, signals from ground crew
Engine Fire During Start Actions
- Throttles - OFF
- Battery/APU - OFF
- Emergency Ground Egress
Engine Fire During Start Considerations
Time permitting, contact ground to alert fire department and advise the other crewmemeber of intention to egress
Emergency Ground Egress Procedure
- Tell other crewmember
- Notify controlling agency
- Disengage throttle gate and place throttles in off
- Battery - OFF
- Ejection seat safety pin
- Disconnect personal leads and safety belt
- Open canopy and exit
