A

Harry Sinclair gave Albert Fall money in return for leases to drill for oil in the oilfields that were supposed to be kept for the navy. Fall spent the money irresponsibly and people started to get suspicious. President Harding defends fall and the senate demands an investigation and Harding dies of pneumonia from stress in 1923. In 1927 it was ruled that the leases were obtained corruptly. Fall was sentenced 1 year in jail and $100,000 after being found guilty of bribery.
