It saves time
It saves money - as manufactures can buy in bulk which is more cost effective than buying fresh ingredients and making the components themselves
Fewer specialist skills are needed
Food preparation is safer and hygienic
It is more likely to be consistent
What are the three main disadvantages of using standard components?
You can’t pick and choose exactly what goes into the product
It may not be as tasty compared to being made with fresh ingredients
There’s extra packaging and transport involved which may be bad for the environment
