What constitutes as the offence fear of violence under the Protection from harassment act 1997 s4(1)?
Someone who causes another to fear on at least 2 occasions that violence will be used against him
What factors lead an offence to be classed as stalking?
The victim must experience serious alarm or distress which has a substantial effect on their usual day to day activities
What are the 5 types of stalkers?
Rejected stalker- ex partner
Intimacy seeking stalker- they want an intimate relationship and believe the victim is in love with them
Incompetent stalkers- they know that the victim is not interested in them but they per sue it anyway. They often have poor social skills
Resentful stalkers- they intend to frighten their victim and have a vendetta against them. Often are paranoid or have delusional disorder
Predatory stalker- they prepare for a sexual attack by stalking their victim
