what is a stakeholder?
a person or group who have an interest in the success of an organisation
what is stakeholder interest?
this is what the stakeholder wants from the business - its the reason they’re a stakeholder (eg an employee wants to receive a fair wage)
what is stakeholder influence?
these are the actions that a stakeholder can take which will affect a business (eg an employee could offer good/bad customer service)
what are internal stakeholders?
those who work inside the business or have financed a business (eg employees, owners, shareholders)
what are external stakeholders?
those who are outside the business but have an interest in its success (eg customers, banks, suppliers, government)
examples of private sector stakeholders
shareholders/owners employees customers suppliers local community banks local government national government pressure groups

interest - want to receive a good dividend/share of profits
influence - can invest more/less money into the business
employees (private)

interest - want to receive a fair wage for the work they do
influence - can offer good/bad customer service / can take industrial action (ie strike)

interest - want to receive a good quality product at a fair price
influence - can decide to shop elsewhere, can post positive/negative reviews
suppliers (private)

interest - want to be paid on time and receive future orders
influence - can increase prices of raw materials / can fail to deliver materials on time
