Describe the process of Gram Staining

A
  1. Add crystal violet solution (which is positively charged)
  2. Add iodine
  3. Acetone/methanol is added to wash the slide
  4. Add pink/red safranin dye
  5. Gram positive will appear purple
    Gram negative will appear pink
