As most people were unable to read or write at this time(illiterate).They would then show people stories from the Bible,which they could only understand from pictures alone

As most were put in a way of praising God,this would especially be the case in Catholic Churches which were deliberately made to be very ornate and beautiful to show the beauty of God

Making stained glass windows meant that it showed the devotion that someone had to God and their religion as they were spending a lot of time to make something beautiful
