Stages Of Mitosis Flashcards
What are the stages of cell cycle?
Interphase
Mitosis
Cytokinesis
Stages of Mitosis
Prophase
Metaphase
Anaphase
Telophase
What happens during cytokinesis?
The cytoplasm divides to form two identical cells
What happens during Prophase?
The DNA condenses and coil up forming chromosomes, centrioles separate and move to opposite sides of the nucleus, nuclear membrane breaks down
What happens during metaphase?
Spindle fibres line up the chromosomes at the middle of the cell
What happens during Anaphase?
The spindle fibre splits the chromosomes into sister chromatids and a new nuclear membrane begins to form
What happens in Telophase?
The Chromosomes uncoil, the nuclear membrane reforms around each set of daughter chromosomes.
What happens in interphase?
The cell grows, replicates DNA, grows some more
What is a centromere?
The centromeres join sister chromatid together
What is a chromatid?
One of two identical strands that make up a chromosome
