stages of healing Flashcards
name the 4 stages of healing in order
bleeding, innflamtion, prolifertion, remodelling
describe the bleeding phase
starts when injury is induced, blood vessels around injured area vasonconstrict to reduce blood loss, necrosiss then occurs
name the chemicals released in the bleeding phase to promote clotting and innflamatory response
fibrinogin, bradykinin, histamine, growth factor 8
how does the bleeding phase top any bleeding
phospholipids from platlets stimulate the collagen matrix to form a thrombosis that can stop the bleeding
how long does the bleeding phase last
from injury initiation up to 24 hours
describe the innflamtion phase
chemotaxis occurs letting in specialist cells such as phagocytes remove dead and toxic tissues
what are phagocytes
they are white blood cellsthere re two types macrophages and neutrophils
name the chemical histimine attratcs during inflamation
histimine
how long is the inflamation phase
0 to 7 days
describe the proliferation phase
angioneogenesis occurs and fibroblasts are lay down grannulation tissue to restore lymphatic flow and limited movement
what is grannulation made up of
rectulin, elastin and type 3 collagen
describe angioneogenesis
it is the formation and development of new blood vessels
how long does the prolifertion phase last
3 to 21 days
describe the remodelling phase
type 3 collagen is replaced by type 1 collagen which is stronger and can withstand a higher tensile load
how long is the the remodelling phase
21 to 365 days (or however long t takes to fully recover)
