Describe establishing rapport

A

THE SUCCESS OF THIS STAGE DEPENDS ON THE COUNSELLOR’S ABILITY TO EMPATHIZE WITH THE CLIENT SO THAT THE CLIENT IS ENGAGED TO EXPLORE THE ISSUES THAT ARE AFFECTING HER/HIM. THE COUNSELLOR’S OUTPUT SHOULD BE A STRATEGICAL METHOD IN CONVINCING COMMUNICATION SKILLS. COMMUNICATION SKILLS PLAY A VITAL ROLE IN THIS INITIAL DISCLOSURE STAGE.

Describe goal setting

A

THE KEY IS TO ENGAGE THE CLIENT IN GIVING ALL POSSIBLE INFORMATION AND KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE HIS/HER GRIEVANCES OR PROBLEMS (LIFE SITUATIONS) AND ENSURE NOTHING IS LEFT OUT. ANY MISSING LINK CAN DISASTROUSLY AFFECT THE WHOLE COUNSELLING PROCESS. ENCOURAGE THE CLIENT TO SPECIFY THE MAIN AREAS THAT SHE/HE WOULD LIKE TO DEAL WITH AND FIND SOLUTIONS FOR THE. THIS IS SETTING THE STAGE (IDENTIFYING THE GOALS) THAT THE CLIENTS WANTS TO ACGIEVE BY THE END OF THE INTERVENTION.

Describe the working stage

A

IN THIS STAGE THE COUNSELLOR AND CLIENT WORK TOGETHER UTILIZING VARIOUS COUNSELLING SKILLS IN IDENTIFYING SPECIFIC WAYS TO BRING ABOUT SOLUTIONS SO AS TO ACHIEVE THE CLIENTS TARGET THAT WERE SET DURING GOAL SETTING.
THE COUNSELLOR WILL HELP THE CLIENT TO UNDERSTAND THE LIFE SITUATIONS, EXPLORE POSSIBLE AVENUES AND DISCUSS PROBLEM SOLVING METHODS, THROUGH THE USE OF THE SKILLS TO FIND SOLUTIONS.
