What force holds a nucleus together
A
Strong Force as it overcomes the electromagnetic force of repulsion between the protons in the nucleus

About the strong force
A
- range of 3-4 fm
- Same effect between two protons as it does two neutrons and a proton and a neutron
- Attractive force from 3-4 fm to 0.5 fm otherwise is repulsive

Alpha Radiation
A
Releases two protons and two neutrons as an alpha particle

Beta - radiation
A
Neutron becomes a proton in the nucleus if the nucleus has too many neutrons. It emits a beta particle and an anti electron neutrino

A
EM wave emitted from an unstable nucleus, and has no mass or charge. Emitted when there’s too much
