ST2 - Why Heuristics Work Part 2 Flashcards
What is the recognition heuristic?
If one of two objects is recognized and the other is not, then infer that the recognized object has the higher value with respect to the criterion
What is the Fluency heuristic?
if one of two items is processed more fluently, more easily, or more quickly, then it is inferred to have the higher value with respect to a given criterion
What is the take the best heuristic?
Once a cue is found that discriminates between the alternatives, the decision is made based on that cue alone, without considering further cues.
What is the tallying heuristic?
the decision is made based on the simple sum or count of favorable cues, without considering their individual validity or importance.
What is the satisficing heuristic?
A decision-making strategy in which the first option that meets a given threshold or minimum criterion is selected, rather than searching exhaustively for the optimal solution
What is the 1/N equality heuristic?
A decision-making strategy in which an individual equally divides resources or efforts among N options, rather than attempting to optimize the distribution based on expected outcomes or other criteria.
What is the Default heuristic?
if there is a default, do nothing
What is the Tit-for-tat heuristic?
A strategy often used in repeated games or interactions where an individual starts by cooperating and then mimics the previous action of the other player.
