- Understanding mappings
- Defaults
- Give feedback
- Expect error
- Structure complex choices
What about defaults?
- many people will end up with the default
- have a large influence
- required choice: good for simple questions, not for complex ones
What about expect error?
things should be designed in the easiest possible way for people
What about give feedback?
provide feedback to help people improve their performance
What about understanding mappings?
Mapping is knowing the relation between a choice you make and the welfare you get from it
What about structure complex choices?
when the choice set get large, alternative strategies
need to be used (When buying paint, instead of providing a list with the names of colors
from A-Z they use paint wheels where you can see the actual color)
What about incentives (and prices)
Being aware of who uses, who chooses, who pays, who profits. Put the right incentives on the right people (Show energy use to protect environment and increase energy
independence )
