Q

What were some different uses for an inuksuk, or groups of inuksuit?

A

1) They were used as markers to show travelers where to go (navigation).
2) They were used to mark important places or good hunting spots.
3) They were used to help hunters herd caribou in the direction the hunters wanted them to run.
4) They were used as a food cache. Each time you removed some food, you took down a rock from the stack. Once all the rocks were gone, people knew that cache was empty.
