It proposed banning slavery in any land acquired from Mexico after the Mexican-American war.

The Slave Trade would be outlawed in DC.
What did the Fugitive Slave Act require?
It required citizens to help capture runaway slaves and return them.
What did the Kansas-Nebraska Act do the Missouri Compromise?
It repealed the Missouri Compromise allowing slavery North of the 36-30 line through popular sovereinty.
Explain what bleeding Kansas was.
Border Ruffians came from Missouri into Kansas to try and swing the vote to make Kansas a slave state. Infighting broke out in Kansas between both sides. John Brown, a radical abolitionist, led his group in the fighting and killed 5 people.
What did John Brown do?
Led violent attacks against pro-slavery supporters.
What was a major goal of the republic party?
Their goal was to stop the expansion of slavery.

How did the Southern states justify the secession?
They claimed they were protecting their way of life, especially slavery, and argues states rights have them the power to secede.

A citizen of US, he had no right to sue.
What was the main topic of discussion in the Lincoln-Douglas debates?
Expansion of slavery

They thought it shouldn’t spread and that it will be hard to abolish it.

Cause a slave uprising, Harper’s Ferry was a gun arsenal.
