Solon
a noble who was trusted by all nobles that canceled farmers debts, freed those who had become slaves, allowed all male citizens to participate in the assembly and law courts. Though he refused to hive away nobles wealthy land that farmers wanted to happen.
Peisitratus
a tyrant who seized power and won support of the poor and gave them jobs for building temples and other public works.
Cleisthenes
After Peisistratus died, he came to power in 508 BC. He reorganized assembly to play the central role in governing. Before all males could belong to the assembly but the members had new powers . They could debate openly, hear court cases and appoint army generals.
