What are the key documents which comprise the SRA Standards and Regulations?

Code of Conduct for Solicitors, Registered European Lawyers and Registered foreign lawyers - CCS
Code of Conduct for Firms - CCF

What are the seven SRA Principles?
Act in a way that upholds the rule of law and the proper administration of justice
In a way that upholds public trust and confidence in the profession and services
Act with independence
honesty
integrity
encourage equality, diversity and inclusion
in the best interest of each client
What if there is a conflict between principles?
Then the principles which safeguard the wider public interest prevail and take prioriy over the interest of an individual client
What is in the CCS?
Sets out standards for individuals authorised by the SRA and those that provide legal services eg paralegals
You must exercise judgement in applying this and compliance is a personal responsibility
What is the CCF?
Sets out standards for businesses and how they are run
Covers:
Systems and controls that firms must have in place to comply
responsibilities of managers of the firm
requirement to have a compliance office for legal practice and a compliance office for finance and administration
