One way anova
In SPSS: Analyze → Compare Means and Proportions → One-way ANOVA
- Enter DV in dependent list (duh), IV in Factor
Chi-squared test
In SPSS: Analyze → Descriptives → Crosstabs
- Enter DV in rows and IV in columns
- In ‘Statistics’ select chi square
- In ’Cells’ select expected, observed, row, column
YOUR OUTPUT:
- asymptotic significance (is p value)
Independent samples T-test
In SPSS: Analyze → Compare Means and Proportions → Ind. Samples T-Test
- Enter DV as test variable and IV as grouping variable
Paired-samples T-test
In SPSS: Analyze → Compare Means and Proportions → Paired-Sample T-Test
One-sample T-test
In SPSS: Analyze → Compare Means and Proportions → One-Sample T-Test
- Choose population/hypothesized mean as test value
Pearson’s R
In SPSS: Analyze → Correlate → Bivariate
