A
- Spreadsheets are practically a good choice of software when you want to work with numbers & display results in graphs.
- Spreadsheets are widely used in finance-related tasks such as preparing BUDGETS,PAYROLL, FINANCIAL STATEMENTS & INVOICES. They also have advanced features such as “FUNCTIONS” to complete special tasks.
- The most popular spreadsheet software used is Microsoft Excel

Active Cell (Spreadsheet Terminology)

- A cell in a worksheet in which you type data (number or text)

Columns (Spreadsheet Terminology)
A
- Run from top to bottom (vertically)
- Each column has an alphabetic heading at the top

A
- Run from left to right (horizontally) on the worksheet
- Row headings are numbers on the left

Cell Reference/ Address (Spreadsheet Terminology)
A
- these tell you where the cells are located.
- They are a combination of column headings & row headings. Eg. C3, A7

- A cell that contains text or a combination of numbers & text (or only numbers that canNOT be used in a calculation)
- Label canNOT be used for calculations

- A group of two or more cells in a worksheet.
- A range is identified by the cell references of the cell in the upper left & lower right corners of the range

- A formula in spreadsheet always begins with an equal sign
