What should spotlight’s keep in mind if there is no tech rehearsal?
- locate performers that require spotlight and confirm details like
- Where does the spotlight have to be pointing when I turn it on?
- Where will you be on the stage and how quickly will I need to follow you with the spot?
- Will you be exiting the stage at any point and will I need to follow you with the spotlight (e.g. onto the apron, down into the audience, up the aisles, etc.)
What tasks are the spotlight crew responsible for?
- Listen for the countdown from the booth signaling the beginning of the song and begin your timer

- Follow your lighting cues and light the piece as required, according to the lighting form, your timer and details acquired from dress rehearsal
What should the spotlight crew do once the performance is finished (packing up)
Open all shutters on spot light then turn it off (Power and Light) to ensure that light can cool off. leave all coloured filters off.
Pick up all the paper and litter from your area.
Ensure that your copy of all necessary paperwork from your clipboard has been put away in the proper hanging folder in the backstage file cabinet in the Right Wing (only file your notes after the last show).
Each assembly and show has a hanging folder labelled with the name of the show and the month and year that show occurred. !! All relevant paperwork for that show from all positions should be in that file.
Put your clipboard back in the cupboard in the Booth, stacked neatly beside the amp.
Ensure that the auditorium doors are securely closed and locked after the last patron has left then assist other Crew in break-down.
