What is Sport England?
One of the most important organizations that has been set up by the government to help to provide increased opportunities for participation in physical activity
How much will Sport England invest between 2012 and 2017?
They will invest over £1 billion of National Lottery and Exchequer funding in various organizations and projects

They will received £120 million between 2009 and 2013

Approximately £10 million

Through the NGBs and county sports partnerships, they have received approximately £28 million

Small grants (£7 million of lottery money); inspired grants (£10 million of lottery money); and protecting playing fields (£3 million of lottery money)

The legacy of the successful London 2012 Olympics with £30 million available from 2012 to 2015
What else is Sport England responsible for?
Allocating other National Lottery funding depending on how much is allocated to it by the government. This amount can vary from year to year
What do Sport England provide, regarding facilities?
They provide a range of facilities and planning services that are linked to helping to plan for good sports facilities to be used now and in the future

Help is given to assist in the planning of good facilities
Why does Sport England specifically focus on protecting playing fields?
There was a period where many schools and local authorities were selling these to raise money
Why are grants made available?
To help provide facilities through what is known as the Iconic Facilities Funding, and smaller grants for some other facilities funding are also available
What is an aim of Sport England?
To improve facility design and concentrate on modernization of facilities to help to raise standards
What is Sport England committed to with participation levels?
Carrying out research in order to track the progress of its aim to grow and sustain participation in sport
What does the Active People Survey do?
This measures how many people participate, who they are, what sports they do, and how those factors can vary across the different regions of England
