What is the purpose of splicing?
• Splicing is a method of joining two ropes together, of making an eye in the end of a rope, or of preventing the end of a rope from fraying.
What is the purpose of an Eye Splice?
Used to make a permanent eye in the rope.
How many tucks are required on synthetic ropes?
Synthetic Ropes require a minimum of 5 tucks
How many tucks are required on natural fibre ropes?
Natural Fibre Ropes require a minimum of 4 ½ tucks
What is the purpose of whipping a rope?
• To form a binding around the Bare end of a rope to prevent the strands from unlaying.
What whipping is used within the CIT trade?
Beeswax impregnated whipping cord
What are the benefits of that whipping?
Weatherproof and prevent the cord from rotting,
