Open Wire Feeder Systems (OWFS) Flashcards
What is the purpose of an Open Wire Feeder System?
To provide a means of connecting an aerial to a transmitter or receiver as efficiently as possible.
What is the separation distance for Tx OWFS?
Spacing of 260 mm between the wires.
What is the separation distance for Rx OWFS?
Spacing of 150mm between the wires
What kind of insulators are used in the installation of OWFS?
Type 808 Insulators
What are the three different types of networks within an OWFS?
- Routes
- Branches
- Spurs
What is the maximum distance an OWFS can span before a mechanical joint is implemented?
Where routes span over 400m they should be divided into sections via a mechanical joint.
What tool is used to fix a collet to an OWFS?
Collet is secured to wire at the correct distance using a Collet key
At what angle does a Vertical Turn need to be implemented?
To keep the spacing between wires constant when the OWFS changes direction by more than 10 degrees, a vertical turn must be installed
What tool is used to apply tension to an Open Wire Feeder System?
- Ratchet Strainer and Tongs
* Draw Vice (Chicago Clamp)
