Q

what is the difference between breathing normally and via a ventilator ?

A
  • positive air is forced into the lungs in order to to increase the thoracic cavity (ventilator)
  • negative (normal breathing) the space in the theoretic cavity increases letting in the air

Q

why is it important to absorb CO2 in a spirometer trace?

A

because it will increase the breathing if it is not being absorbed (the body trying to get rid of co2) and CO2 is toxic
