The Sugar Act

A

The Sugar Act of 1764 lowered the tax on sugar and molasses imported into the colonies. Brits hoped colonist would pay the tax instead of use smuggled goods to make rum. This Act also allowed officers to take smuggled goods wo permission this sparked more discontent over British taxation and lack of rights.
