Spinocerebellar tract Flashcards
What are the spinocerebellar tracts for?
Muscle joint information from muscle spindles, tendon organs and joint receptor.
Where do the first order neurons synapse in the spinocerebellar tract?
Base of the posterior gray column (Clarke column) (Nucleus dorsalis) C8-L3/L4
Where do the SON fibers go in the dorsal spinocerebellar tract?
The axons enter the posterolateral part of the lateral white column ipsilaterally and ascend to the medulla oblongata.
Where do the SON fibers go in the ventral spinocerebellar tract?
The axons cross to the other side and then ascend in the lateral white column and reach to the medulla oblongata
Where do the SON fibers of the dorsal spinocerebellar tract terminate?
They terminate in the cerebellum by entering through inferior cerbellar peduncle.
Where do the SON fibers of the ventral spinocerebellar tract terminate?
They terminate in the cerebellum by entering through the superior cerebellar peduncle. After entering the cerebellum, these fibers cross to the other side of the cerebellum.
What is the posterior spinocerebellar tract for?
Muscle joint info from the trunk and lower limb.
What is the anterior spinocerebellar tract for?
Muscle joint info from the trunk and upper and lower limbs. Info from skin and superficial fascia.
