Spine Flashcards
What is Wiltses classification?
Spondy, 5 types
Degenerative Isthmic Traumatic Congenital Pathologic
What can cause stenosis?
Disk
Hyper trophy of facets or flavin
Listhesis
Slippage of facets into foramen
Spondy at l5-s1 is usually what type?
Isthmic
Degenerative listhesis usually occurs where?
L4-L5
Meyerding classification is for what pathology?
Spondylolisthesis
Sport (spine outcomes research trial) trial showed what regarding degenerative spondy?
No difference in outcomes with ITT
As treated analysis, improvement with OR
Patients with DS and stenosis improved more with OR than people with stenosis alone.
Problem: lots of crossover
How to measure pelvic incidence?
Pelvic incidence is fixed
Sacral slope plus pelvic tilt
In Order to maintain saggital balance you can extend hip or lordose lumbar
Incidence equals lumbar lordosis plus 10
How to measure saggital balance?
C7 plumb line should be within 2.5 cm of posterior superior aspect of S1
How do you measure pelvic incidence on an X-ray?
Line from center of femoral head to center of sacrum, perpendicular line to center of sacrum, angle between these two lines is incidence
Normal is 54 degrees
