Spinal Rotation Flashcards
Internal oblique (origin)
thoracolumbar fascia, anterior 2/3 of iliac crest, lateral half of inguinal ligament
Internal oblique (insertion)
inferior borders of ribs 10-12
Internal oblique (action)
compresses and supports abdominal viscera, flexes and rotates trunk
Internal oblique (innervation)
ventral rami & 1st lumbar nerve
Internal oblique (blood supply)
superior/inferior epigastric arteries & deep iliac circumflex arteries
External oblique (origin)
external surfaces of ribs 5-12
External oblique (insertion)
linea alba, pubic tubercle, anterior 1/2 of iliac crest
External oblique (action)
compresses and supports abdominal viscera, flexes and rotates trunk
External oblique (innervation)
ventral rami
External oblique (blood supply)
superior/inferior epigastric arteries
Rotatores (origin)
transverse processes of lumbar region
Rotatores (insertion)
lamina and transverse processes of spine above, spanning 1-2 segments
Rotatores (action)
stabilizes, extends, and rotates the spine (stability is primary, extension and rotation are assistive)
Rotatores (innervation)
dorsal rami
Rotatores (blood supply)
dorsal branches of segmental arteries
