TLSO

A
  • Thoracolumbosacral flexion, extension control orthoses (TLS FE) (Taylor Brace)
  • Plastic Thoracolumbosacral Jacket - used in SCI; allows for early mobilization, OOB, & functional training.
  • Jewett (TLSO) - limits flexion, encourages hyperextension; used for compression fx.

Cervical Orthoses (CO)

A
  • Soft Collar (cervical pain, whiplash) minimal control
  • Four-Poster Orthosis - used for mod. level of control; cervical fx or SCI
  • Halo - Attaches to skull with screws. Max control pt. with cervical fx or SCI. Allows early mobil. OOB and functional training
  • Minerva - Max control without screws

Boston (TLSO)

A
  • Scoliosis
  • More cosmetic, can wear under clothing
  • Midthoracic lower scoliotic curves < 40 degrees
  • Used for spondylolisthesis and severe trunk weakness, i.e. muscular dystrophy.
