Takes or verbalizes standard precautions
Step 2
Candidate places/maintains head in the neutral in-line position
Step 3
Turns over c-spine and directs assistant to maintain manual stabilization of the head

Assesses motor, sensory, and circulatory function in each extremity

Applies an appropriately sized cervical collar
Step 6
Directs movement of the patient onto the board without compromising the integrity of the spine
Step 7
Applies padding to voids between the torso and the board, as necessary
Step 8
Immobilizes the patient’s torso to the long board
Step 9
Secures the patient’s legs to the board
Step 10
Evaluates and pads behind the patient’s head, as necessary
Step 11
Immobilizes the patient’s head to the board
Step 12
Reassesses motor, sensory, and circulatory function in each extremity
