Takes or verbalizes standard precautions

Candidate places/maintains head in the neutral in-line position

Turns c-spine over and directs assistant to maintain manual immobilization of the head

Applies appropriately sized cervical collar

Positions the immobilization device behind the patient

Secures the device to the patient’s torso and legs

Secures the patient’s head to the device

Reassesses motor, sensory and circulatory function in each extremity

Verbalizes moving and immobilizing the patient to a long board and reassessment of motor, sensory, and circulatory function in each extremity
