It causes vasodilation and decreases the incidence of post operative lower extremity DVTs.

A
- Patient refusal
- Coagulopathies and bleeding disorders
- Infection at the site of injection
- Sepsis or severe hypovolemia
- Indeterminate neurological disease

What are the relative contraindications to a spinal?
A
- Preload dependent cardiac lesions
- Spinal surgeries or deformities
- Pre-existing neurological deficits (aka weakness/paresthesias)
