The spider is very cunning. He lures the fly into his tarp by many ways. He asks the fly if he wants to eat or rest in his parlour, but when the fly says no, the spider doesn’t give up and mentions about the beauty of the fly. The fly after hearing the spiders words can’t stop thinking about herself and gets captured by the spider.

The spider’s web is being referred to as a parlour but later on as a den. Why do you thinks so?

A

The spider wants to trick the fly, so he calls his house a parlour. He wants his prey to thing that his house is comfortable so that they get tricked and he could feast on it’s prey. When the fly gets captured by the spider, the spider’s house is being refers to a den because the poet wants the readers to understand that his house isn’t so comfortable as it seems.
